AiRM was founded in 2003

The organisation has delivered a varied programme of exhibitions centred on 8 medieval churches located on Denge and Walland marsh. Art in Romney Marsh continues to support artists to experiment and make site-specific work. Georgie Scott

Georgie Scott is a curator and project manager living and working in the South East of England.

As assistant curator at Folkestone Fringe, Georgie manages their projects in the four-year-long Creative Europe exchange platform Magic Carpets and is part of the project management team for Creative Folkestone Triennial 2020 and Folkestone Fringe Triennial Programme 2020.

Alongside her work for Folkestone Fringe, Georgie is also Gallery Curator (Kent) for the University for the Creative Arts which includes the Herbert Read Gallery (UCA Canterbury), the Zandra Rhodes Gallery (UCA Rochester) and the Brewery Tap UCA Project Space (Creative Quarter Folkestone).

Philippa Wall

Philippa Wall is an Arts and Culture Freelancer living in Folkestone. 

Philippa founded Threads, a nomadic gallery in 2015, has been a Sessional Lecturer at CCCU (2016 - 2017), Project Manager for Folkestone Triennial (2017), Curator and Programme Manager for Strangelove Festival (2016 - 2019), Local Coordinator for South East Creatives (2018 - 2021). 

Philippa has worked alongside Art in Romney Marsh since 2018 building a new website, producing evaluation reports, marketing strategies and audience development plans. In 2021, as a consultant for Social Enterprise Kent Philippa developed strategic business plans and marketing strategies. 

 

Nikki Tompsett

Artist living and working in Folkestone

She has been actively involved in creating opportunities for artists on the South Coast, co-founded Todds Gallery, Hastings 2006 to 2009, co-established Rye Creative Centre 2009 – 2013, and was Folkestone Creative Quarter Co-ordinater 2013 - 2019.

“AiRM bravely situates contemporary art in and around spectacular Medieval Churches, smoothing the way for something magical to happen, and unexpected for all, the church congregation and local community, the artists, the tourists and the art lovers. As a participant I felt privileged to be able to respond to the space and produce site specific work which was my most ambitious work to date.”
